Sunshine, Submarines, Spring

Hola!

It has been a beautiful week here! (This is what people who DON’T live here, think it’s like ALL the time…) The media makes the world at large believe Southern California is Hawaii. Here’s a newsflash for you: it’s NOT!!!!!! I have been freezing here all winter, haven’t pulled out shorts until THIS week, when it’s been in the 70’s.

Anyway. David has a neat musical presentation tonight, that they – the church youth group -- have been practicing for, for the past 6 weeks. It is a “stake” musical, so there are probably 60 or 70 youth involved.

Teresa and Kara just had their chorus performance, 2 nights ago. It was Beatles songs, and they all wore tye-dye shirts. Very cute. You gotta love “Yellow Submarine,” and “Let it Be.”

This coming Friday starts Spring Break for us. We get Good Friday, and the following week off. The kids and I will be flying to Boston, to visit their dad and look around the area, and do a few touristy things. We will also be celebrating Easter in the Arctic North, which is such a wonderful, uplifting holiday to celebrate. I hope you can make some time to think about Easter this spring.

OK—here is the “formula” they use for when Easter is each year. It’s the FIRST Sunday, after the FIRST full moon, after the FIRST day of spring. It hasn’t been this early for 95 years, and it won’t be this early again for another 200 years.

Now you know. :)

What musical presentation is David doing? Our teens just loved the Musical fireside the youth of the Stake did last year! Very uplifting and good for them. Have a great trip for Spring break - we want a full report of what you find in Boston!

First off, the big announcement is not about the house. It is HUGER than that!

Ok, I'm an envious now. What musical presentation are the youth doing now? A few years ago it was, "This is Jesus". I love when the youth do these. It is such a great thing for them to learn and appreciate new songs and to feel the sprit while performing. I need more details like who is in charge, who is leading the music, who sits where...just kidding on that one.

It seams to be the year for the beatles...American Idol, Madrona, Paul in court over his billion and billions!!

And I did not know that Easter fact. Very interesting. Our kids here get Good Friday off and no break until April. They had a week off last moth.
Did you know Jolyn is going to Hawaii? whatever! If I wanted to I could wear shorts too, it would just look VERY out of place.

Somebody in choir today made the same comment about the Easter being so early - interesting! I hope your trip to Boston will be fun - you'll barely be missing a huge St.Patrick's celebration there that I read about. Bummer! Have fun anyway!

Can I go to Boston with you?! I seriously did NOT want my break to end. Oh and darn-I have my Fiddler on the Roof performances starting a week from Friday so I guess I really can't go with you....(: Enjoy though! And it actually took me a few days to watch the whole season of Gilmore Girls-its a great show! I've now started Season 3!
