Many Miscellaneous Morsels

Hello!

Well, I said I'd keep you posted on the snake thing. It was kind of short-lived...between 2 and 3 weeks? Please observe a moment of silence for Chibi the snake. (I know many of you can't bring yourself to shed any tears for snakes, but believe me, Teresa shed enough for all of us! Holy cow. It has been a traumatic weekend but as of this afternoon, it is buried way back in the back yard.) Here's a photo of the skin it shed a week ago, that was fun and educational.

Now she's gone.

(Don't worry too much about Teresa, though...she's already thinking of the next reptile to inhabit the aquarium.)

Kara talks about wanting to get a Teddy-Bear hamster around Christmastime. As part of our "Educate the Kids on Finances" push, we've been to the pet store and priced the habitats and floor fillings and talked about initial cost of everything, and the monthly cost of food & floor filling. She's willing to wait until Christmastime because she doesn't want to blow her whole savings on the initial set-up..."maybe I'll get some money for Christmas," she says.

Let's see...rain, rain, and more rain today! Kara's soccer game was cancelled, David's cross-country meet was cancelled, and his day to help-with-a-friend's-outdoor-Eagle-project was also cancelled.

The JDRF walk to cure Diabetes was NOT cancelled, though, so this morning Teresa and I walked in the fundraiser in Boston, with umbrellas and ponchos, in the sometimes pouring rain. One of our neighbors (in 7th grade like Teresa) was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes when she was five and they form a big team each year to walk. I didn't take the camera because, guess what, wet-wet-wet!!!!!

Otherwise, we went to David's Curriculum Night last Thursday. Good to see all of is teachers and get an overview of the courses.

I do love Conference weekend...each talk is uplifting, and usually there is a morsel of wisdom I can take away and use, right away in my life. I liked the "tell the important people in your life you love them," consistently. Not just once a year or a decade. I also liked that we are nearing 150 temples. (Except don't you think Utah has enough of them by now?)

The leaves around here are starting to change. If you drive north, say, to Maine, they are already changed. I do love fall here. Here is a leaf photo from LAST year, to get you thinking of autumn.

(Remember we are not seeing these colors just yet...maybe a LITTLE, on SOME trees. But I bet within a week or two, we'll be seeing a lot more.)

Have a good week! Kari

So sorry about Chibi! Dead pets can be such a traumatic thing... We also loved conference! I liked Elder Packer asking for prayers for Pres. Monson and his family - it was so personal... Well - love you! Kathi

Gee, Dallas' soccer game was cancelled too, but not due to rain - due to the goals being broken.......wierd!

I love your update. I love that Teresa cried and cried for the snake. Juan Carlos lost his first batch of sea monkeys a several weeks ago (Pedro dumped them on the floor) and you would have thought that a close relative had died he cried so much.

We've got lots of rain here too. Lots of cancelled tennis classes that I still have to pay for. Grrrrr.

And conference was great. :)

Well, I won't talk about weather. It is pretty much the same. Sunny, mild, warm, ocean breezes, and, well... perfect. That is why I love blogs like yours. To give me a taste of what a REAL fall looks like. :) Can't wait for more New England scenery pics. Sorry to hear about the snake - for real. It made Lizzie sad. But the hamster has my vote. We love ours.

I agree with Audrey and the fall weather. We skipped summer and fall, at least that what it feels like, and have gone straight to winter! Mark is in CA on business and hopefully he will want to come home to the snow, and me of course!
